I was ready to throw the scale out and decided to call customer service before putting it in the trash. After quickly reaching a representative, she instructed me to take the battery out, let the scale sit idle for an hour, and then put a brand new battery back in it. It worked! Thank you! PS-maybe that instruction should be noted on the bottom of the scale! User's recommendation: I highly recommend the product.
