11 months no final invoice

1

I leased a car from a Hyundai dealer and last May of 2020 I gave it back 10 months before the lease end date. The car was sold in August of 2020 for $14,800 and I owed $12,400 (rounded numbers). That is a difference of $2400 Hyundai Motor Finance has yet to send me a last invoice and has been reporting to the To the credit bureaus that I have not paid it. I have been calling over and over again to HMF and they have yet to resolve this. For 14 months now I am being reported because they will NOT send me the information to settle this. They have ruined my credit even more and will not cooperate with me. They continue to tell me it gets escalated to the complaint department and customer assistance. I want this resolved as this is not my fault, it would have been paid by now. I contacted the BBB towards the end of May and a lady from corporate called me and had no idea what was going on. She told me she would find out and to call her 2 days later. I did that and she didnt answer or call back. To this day she will not give me her email address to email our conversations and to document what we are talking about. I am not disputing that I had it repossessed I wanted it taken back. As of this day the corporate lady had been telling me to keep calling her back, she started to give me figures of what I owe to them. I owe either 12 or 14 payments and I will also not deny that. My payments were $328, (rounded off). She told me that they were $378. I replied to her no they were $328. That is $50 more and she said oh your correct to which I said yes and that is $50 over so why is that not coming off the total. She said thats the way it goes and there is nothing she can do. Basically oh well. Now I have been charged late fees and interest and other things on top of that for 15 months now. She then proceeded to tell me that the $2400 over what I owe will not come off the balance because its a lease and not a retail loan and that in a lease they own the car. No matter what if its a loan or lease they own the car until it is paid off. Ive spoke to another person today that said the day they repossessed my vehicle the lease terms were done and to not worry about the lease terms anymore. Also when it is a repossession the car is as is, not the same as a normal turn in vehicle. I have spoken also to my lawyer and they are saying the same thing as the reinstatement department is saying to me. I also called HMF consumer affairs and she just switched me right back to the reinstatement department. I want this balance off my credit report and over with. If there is a balance then it should be the correct balance. But as to the reinstatement department there is no balance. User's recommendation: Never use HMF.
