Hey folks, Well i heard of,a company in alabama that made true damascus steel! Well many years,ago i a mcg bear model 544, thick hard steel, and would do its job on any game which needed to be cleaned! That knife was stolen and i was able to replace it with a bear and sons model 544 damascus, the knife, is thinner, will not take an edge like its soft, Sent a three blaxe damScus steel stock and replaced the blade and,the replacement blade was softer than the orignal blade! Its my understanding that they make the blade themselves yet they a waiting on blades! Mcg bear model 544(d) $99.00 Bear & sons model 544 (d) $180.00 Stockman three blade (d) $161.00 I have spent the last 49 years learning how to sharppen knives, and for the money it not worth the hassel, steel is soft, itwill not take an edge nor hold an edge!
