As a result of the treatment, my dog died
In Glendale (next to the Mego store). My dog died there. Chronology of events On 12.11.2018 at 11 o'clock we brought a HEALTHY dog for brushing teeth under anesthesia. This was not the first time, a couple of years ago we had already performed such a procedure successfully, but only in another clinic. Dog - foreign Toy, very small (smaller than by standard), born 18.07.2010, 6 years old, full name Julia Cezaris Casa-Blanca. The assistant weighed the dog, a weight of 1800 g was recorded, which I was amazed at, because the dog never weighed more than 1500 g, but the dog was not weighed again. We were not offered an alternative way to brush the teeth of such a small dog without anesthesia. He was injected with a sedative - Horpasol 1mg / kg SC and we left the dog in the clinic. We were given a paper to sign about the effects of anesthesia, but no one was even interested in whether the dog had any peculiarities, health problems that were usually of interest elsewhere. The dog back told us to get as early as 2pm, after three hours. Later, according to the clinic staff, the dog was administered and it was noted in the internal clinic journal No. 319: - introductory anesthesia (Propaven 1% 4mg / kg IV); - inhalation anesthesia (Isoflurane 2% - 30 min); - ~ 11.40 saline (NaCl 0.9% 40 ml IV); - Vitamin B (Biocatalin 1ml IM) I don't know if it is still recorded in the journal or has not been changed. After the dog we came around 14.30. The dog was like a rag, nor did it react (neither with its eyes nor with its tail - as it usually was) to the presence of the owners. The dog slept in a mobile home, on an electrically heated mat in the clinic. The man touched the dog and found that the dog was colder than usual, as told to the doctor, but there was no reaction. Before leaving the clinic, the dog was given antibiotics (Synulox 12.5mg / kg), because during brushing, 9 were pulled out! teeth, including 2 large teeth in the back. No one informed us about it, just put it in front of the fact! As if the teeth were inflamed and moving, it was not possible to check. As such a small dog, you can pull out so many teeth at once. The following medicines were prescribed for further care of the dog: - Antibiotic Synulox 50 mg - ½ tablet 2 times a day, morning and evening, 9 days, starting 13.11.2018; - Dental Pet Spray blows 3 puffs in the dog's mouth once a day; We left the clinic around 14.45 (the time when we paid for the services, shown in the check - was 14:43). We paid USD 40 for brushing our dog's teeth (money was later given to us for care medicines because we could not even open them). We were at home with the dog around 3 p.m. The dog was shivering, we covered warmer and put him by the warm radiator. I at At 15:37 I called the clinic (the time of the call was fixed on my phone) because I was worried that the dog was in a bad condition. The dog was immobile, began salivating with blood from the extracted teeth and diarrhea (looking like a gel). The assistant replied that everything is fine with the dog, do not touch him, that it is the body's reaction to anesthesia, the dog leaves the anesthesia. After repeated attempts to say that I was worried about the dog, the answer was - what if, you can take me to the clinic no earlier than 20:00 in the evening, it is not worth it sooner, because the dogs leave anesthesia within 12 hours. Later, in a face-to-face meeting, the assistant denied knowing that the dog had diarrhea. The dog several times ~ 3, severely vomited saliva and had diarrhea. As the assistant strongly advised not to touch the dog, I continued to simply take care of the dog. After 18.00, the dog, who as before was sleeping still with his eyes open and did not respond to the presence of the owners (did not get better within 5 hours after anesthesia), suddenly stretched out and tilted his head. I tried to massage because I think the dog is having cramps. We went to the clinic again, on the way the dog started to breathe hard, how to grow, the tongue began to fall out. He was picked up at the clinic, told us to stay in the hallway. We were informed that ~ around 18:50 the dog had a glucose of 2.7 mmol / l and a body temperature of 32.2C. The dog was given - glucose 5% 3 ml IV - Adrenaline 0.01mg / kg ~ 19: 00 the dog died. The doctor with the assistant believes that they did everything right and it is not their fault, that it was a peculiarity of our dog and that they gave the dog in a normal condition and with normal glucose, but we do not believe that. None of them even apologized or said they were sorry it was over. The assistant behaved terribly in general. Their version is that the dog died from a drop in temperature, from hypothermia and breathing problems, but these are the consequences, not the cause. Our opinion: - Tooth brushing is a relatively simple procedure to get a dead dog afterwards; - It is possible that the dog was incorrectly weighed and our reprimand was not taken into account; - It is possible that the dog incorrectly recovered from anesthesia from the very beginning, when we received the dog, we found that it was colder than usual, and this reprimand of ours was not taken into account either; - Small dogs like ours had to be connected to the system all the time to inject saline and glucose, which was not done. Also, the dog was not fed from the previous evening (to do anesthesia). The dog experienced dehydration from vomiting and diarrhea. If doctors know that this happens to small dogs, they do not have the right to return a dog that has not yet become conscious to their owners. The owner must receive the dog in an adequate condition. Our dog did not feel better within 5 hours after anesthesia. At the same time, an attempt was made to convince us that this abnormal situation with the dog is normal. - The answer to my phone call was negligence, I tried to tell the dog that everything is fine and faster than. 20:00 do not drive. I trust what the doctors said because I am not a doctor. The assistant denied that I said the dog had diarrhea. - The clinic has to repay the money we paid because we do not want to pay for the murder of our dog. I blame myself for trusting and not bringing the dog back right away. The dog died slowly. On November 15, 2018, the husband came to the clinic to talk to the owner. There was also no sympathy on his part, he said that the staff did everything right, worked normally, the scales were right, and so on. Money, he refused to return. He said that if we wanted to, we could complain and make a section for the dog.
