Refund for unused money order

Purchased a money order for my son that he didnt use. Already filled out. Bank wont cash it. How do I get a refund. It was purchased while I was providing 24 end of life care. I just buried her. Cant find receipt. User’s recommendation: Don’t buy money orders from moneygram.
