Shoe deteriorating

My pair of Liz Claiborne flex shoes which are only five years old- BUT i have only worn them twice- deteriorated under my feet when I worn them last night!! The soles cracked and the heels woke into pieces of red-brown flakes of a dried up latex/plastic.
