Neighbor destroys I have to pay

More than two weeks ago, when a neighbor removed trees with uncut branches from his property, he passed a Optus cable that goes to my house, I found it only 1/5 week ago I reported it to Optus damage info service, indicating the specific place where it is located. Today I received a theonic answer with variants or wireless receivers or MAN has to pay 300 dollars for cable renewal. During such a storm, lightning dances around my house, then I refused the wireless, because it will not always be possible to vaccinate the storm to turn off the receiver at that moment. Asked why the neighbor did not cover the damage, the answer was that he could not because he had not caught his hand that he had done this mess. There was almost a hint that maybe I broke the cable to slander a neighbor. Conclusion One if you want a cable to open your wallet and pay for another's sins, ISn't there ABSURDS? Any homeowner who has a Optus cable to their house can find themselves in such a situation. What to do? I will probably reconsider cooperation with Optus if they still stick to the principle - else you pay.
