Cynicism and Indifference to Patients

to understand. But in reality, the patient often has to deal with a completely different attitude. One of the patients needed to be examined six months after the operation for complaints of chest pain, malaise and difficulty breathing. The patient was left unattended for a long time, the doctor hardly talked to him or just ignored him. After some tests, the patient was informed that they did not show any visible problems. The doctor had complained to the patient that she had invented her symptoms and said she did not want to work with her because she did not know what illness she had. When the patient asked the doctor what she should do, the doctor bluntly refused to go to any other doctors just to not come to him. During the wards, the patients began to be treated as 'simulants', who wanted to stay in the ward only because of the doctor, but the doctor did not know how to get rid of her. When the patient tried to point out that she was really feeling bad, everything she said was perceived in the negative - cynically answering, that no one is interested in her position here. Only later, after consultation with a doctor in another department and after appropriate examinations, the patient was diagnosed with severe bronchial asthma, most likely as a consequence of surgery. And that means that the patient had been unjustly insulted before, because the symptoms she mentioned were really in line with the later confirmed diagnosis. Insulting the patient may sometimes be the easiest way to get rid of liability. But if the doctor really does not want to work with the patient so much, then it would be fairer to immediately write this patient to another doctor, rather than subject him to ridicule and humiliation. Unfortunately, mistakes in the treatment process most often occur when the patient means nothing to the patient as a person, and when everything is determined only by prejudice.
