Racist remarks and book destruction

1

Dear Seven West Media, Please be advised that it is offensive to destroy books on television. An act of destroying a book is never acceptable and does not pass the "pub test" of consumer expectations: Not only is it unconscionable to purposely harm, ruin, deface, or tear apart a literary work, but beyond its undesirability from the point of view of a reader it also has strong connotations of nazism and sets a terrible precedent. The book in question appeared to be Shashi Tharoor's "Inglorious Empire", a book in which British Colonialism was examined in the history of the Indian Empire by a renowned academic of Indian heritage. This text was placed on the conveyor belt of a wood chipper and impliedly shredded on your program, Big Brother (aired 1-2 May 2021, approx. 12:00am in Melbourne). This is despicable. You must ensure that this never happens again.
