Section 8 Contract – LOOPHOLE

1

Date of incident: 3/7/2021 Contract #1173160 Description of incident: Our oven went out. The oven is covered in the Platinum Level contract. Select Home Warranty is using Section 8 of the contract to assign an inordinately low replacement value to this claim which negates the very reason I bought the policy in the first place. Be advised that Section 8 of their contracts gives them the right to arbitrarily set the depreciated value of any covered appliance. The effect to the homeowner is that they are relinquishing total control of what Select Home Warranty will pay for a claim. On 3/16/2021 I requested a reassessment of the depreciated value. The request was flatly refused. (please see attached.) Select Home Warranty is using Section 8 as a loophole clause to mislead the public into thinking they are covered for the inadvertent loss when in actuality, they are not.
