Flight credits
1
We had booked a trip to Florida for spring break 2020, and just like the rest of the world, had to cancel. Car and hotel were refunded, and we had $2800 in flight credit. We decided in March 2021 to fly to Texas because we couldn't afford Florida. After about 3 hours of hold time, we had plane tickets to San Antonio. I never received any correspondence or itinerary as to how much tickets were, but was told by the rep who booked the trip, each passenger had $326 in flight credit remaining. Our neighbors invited us to go to Cancun in June 2021. We willingly agreed to go thinking we still had some credit to use. The online feature to "use airline credits" never worked for me, so I have to call or chat each time. The first rep I spoke with via chat seemed like he was going to take care of me, but about 90 minutes into "creating new vouchers" stated that there were no United flights to Cancun on the days I wanted. (Funny though, their website showed available seats and we did fly United and did not modify the date or time.) The next week, I called Orbitz to try to book flights, and the rep told me United had deactivated the vouchers and I was to contact them to see if they were still valid. I immediately called United, spoke with a rep who referred me back to Orbitz stating they (Orbitz)may have used the entire credit for the trip we took to Texas. I then called Orbitz right back and the rep said she couldn't help me because it was an issue with United. I finally got a supervisor at United involved. She located the remaining credit that Orbitz had assigned to "Misc charge orders." On June 24th 2021 I spoke with a rep at Orbitz who did find my remaining credits. I explained to her that I have spent HOURS trying to get my credits, my Cancun vacation came and went (I am sad to say that I used Orbitz to book my flight to Cancun, paid in full, thinking that I would have received a refund) and at this point I just want my money back. She stated she cannot issue a refund but could send it to corporate for an "investigation" and I should receive an email within 24-72 hours. Needless to say, its been two full weeks and I have not gotten any response. I called today to check the status and was hung up on TWICE. The third time I called I requested a supervisor and she states one will call me within 48 hours. HA. I'll hold my breath...
