Here are the facts: I booked a trip through Delta Travel to go from Tucson to Montego Bay Jamaica on December 12, 2021 and return 10 days later. The original ticked involved three flights down and 2 back, with no layover more than 4 hours and all daytime flights, with plenty of time to make all connections. Now Delta decided to start cancelling flights. My third iteration of the ticked involves a red-eye flight and on the return flight, my flight into Atlanta arrives an hour and a half after my connecting flight to Tucson leaves. Obviously I cannot make that connection. I have now been on hold with Delta Travel for 6 HOURS. My on-line itinerary now has me leaving Tucson at 7:00 AM TOMORROW!!! If I try to cancel the flight because of the red-eye flight and the impossible connection, I get hit with a $5, 100 PENALTY!!! And my tickets are in FIRST CLASS each way. Their web site says that due to the COVID they will not charge a cancellation penalty of the cancellation is made more than 31 days out from the flight, and the cancellation will be 100% of the ticket if the cancellation is made 3 or fewer days out, which explains the change of departure date from December 5 to August 24. They will turn your trip into a first class trip to and from HELL and leave you with absolutely no options.
