I don’t understand what a gateway is

I have a true bolt lock and I need to figure out what the gateway is and how do I connect the lock to the Wi-Fi it keeps asking me for the gateway name right now I can lock and unlock the lock with my phone as long as I’m home but if I leave the house I cannot do it
