Inappropriate behaviour of delivering agent and theft of our item.

Hello, This is Rahul Raj, we had a wrongly delivered order (ordered pants- delivered shirt). We did an exchange request and the courier guy came and picked up the item and left. But when after 3 days, i.e 24th Jul, he came to deliver the exchanged item, he demanded for the same item to be returned like we ordered, in this case- pants. When we told that you already picked up the wrong item, he just said that he will not give untill we return him pants, not shirt. So, How we are suppose to give him pants, if the order was wrong and instead we were given shirt. If we would have been given pants, then why we will place an exchange request. Moreover, when we tried to talk to him, he just went away and didn't delivered the item. So basically, it is a case of inappropriate behaviour and theft of our wrongly delivered item, which he is now denying. So i have below mentioned requests/ questions ; 1- On what basis he accepted return of shirt which he collected 3 days back ? 2- If he already collected the item, then why he is demanding for it again at time of delivery? 3- Why he was not listening and just left the spot in the middle of the talk ? 4- What did returns/ exchange team put the response in delivery remarks ? I need a proper explanation of why this happened and whose mistake was it. Otherwise, we will put a police complaint of theft of our parcel. We have all the proofs of delivery, accepted returns, delivery boy coming and not delivereing.
