Power was out at Microtel in Beckley, WV when we arrived
1
We called the cancellation number given to us for our February 24th stay at Microtel at Beckley, WV when we found the power was completely out at Microtel Hotel. The person who answered the phone was contracted by a firm out of the country and said they would cancel for us and set us up at another hotel, which they did. They reserved a room at Super 8. We went there and were told we would be charged a very low rate, under $50, which pleased us. The room was very shabby but clean. We were surprised, however, when we got our account statement showing we were billed the full amount of $70.75 for Super 8 plus an additional $60.47 for Microtel after being assured they would cancel for us. Efforts to reach the hotel itself always send us back us back to their contracted booking services. We will not be using any contracted services, if we can possibly help it and will either go directly to our lodging to reserve or we will utilize our AAA.
