I was told insurance had to be added at the time of purchase. I was unaware of that and its still 4 months until the event so I will try to find a company next time that isnt that difficult. The representative that helped me was very nice though. User's recommendation: Be aware that insurance MUST be purchased at the time of purchase if you want it.
