They did not stand behind their Happiness Guarantee
1
I hired a top professional general contractor through home advisor to do an addition which turned out to be a total disaster and has to be taken completely down. After contacting home advisors about this contractor they told me I did not qualify for the happiness guarantee because I had not paid the contractor through their app. At the time of hiring the professional I was told by a home advisor representative that I could pay the contractor directly. I was never told I had to pay through an app. I spoke with representatives each and every time and did not do anything through their app which I did not have. Furthermore, I was told by their conflict resolution specialist that my first step in resolving the issue was to do arbitration which they would pay for. I did exactly as they told me to do in order to get this completely resolved and after the arbitration was complete, home advisors then told me that because I had done legal and binding arbitration that there was nothing that they could do. I ask the conflict resolution specialist about my happiness guarantee and was told at that time because I had chosen to do an arbitration that released them from the happiness guarantee. I learned the hard way to not use home advisor for anything. They cannot be trusted. Home advisors will not stand behind their happiness guarantee. How advisors does not check out the contractors they list as professionals other than their name and if they have a license. Home advisor is a rip off and gives you a false sense of security in hiring a professional. User's recommendation: Check out local contractors through your city and better business bureaus. Ask around your area before hiring anyone. Ask at your lumberyard, real estate offices, or anywhere you feel the type professional you are seeking would be known. Do not use Angie’s list or Home Advisors! They are the same company now and both are misleading.
