Water using products failure rates
2
All Bissell heated carpet cleaners are designed to fail after 3 years, the heater blocks and covers are made of dissimilar metals that react with the solution and eats holes through the back cover. Water leaks out near wires that are connected using crimped connectors with no water proof shields. There are also other poorly designed aspects that they use which also assure a quick failure rate and repairs are difficult, expensive and sometimes impossible due to deformation of the plastic used to make the case and tanks. The design of the water circuit uses gate type valves which would be fine had the been made using a more mechanical driven force, they use a magnetic switch that has is easily stopped from moving due to hardened soap build up. User's recommendation: Look for older Hoover seam vac models made before 2005, they're ugly but made to last forever.
