Exchange, Refund and Cancellation Policy

The Coronavirus outbreak Carnival announced that certain sailings were be cancelled. Refund and credits were being offered with no penalty assessed. The option for a future cruise was one choice along with others. I selected the future cruise option. When I booked the new cruise I was informed by the agent that my refund had been returned to my method of pay which was a credit card of which I had no prior knowledge. The agent never told me this, rather he told me the full amount would be credit toward the future cruise once I selected a cruise in accordance with the stated policy. Had the agent said that to me I would have told him that that card had been comprised and was no longer valid. I made contact with Carnival via the new booking number and was given the royal run around in other words I was penalized for the agent and Carnival mistake and that I would have to just wait until the refund is received or returned. I provided the supervisor or a person proposing to be a supervisor with proof that this card was no longer valid and was told there is nothing he could do about that. All I wanted was to have the money applied to the future cruise rather than have me pay additional money for the selected cruise while I wait for a refund that I did not request. I then asked the alleged supervisor for the cooperate office number. He gave me the number that I was talking to him at that time and told me that they would just send it back to him. If this is Carnival procedures for handling complaints I am feeling as if I chose the wrong cruise line. Since retiring my wife and I have cruised more that 20 times and currently have 4 cruises scheduled this year and early next year. This situation could have and should have been handled differently and I hope the Cooperate Office will review this policy and those persons in supervisory positions. I would like to hear from the hierarchy to be sure that it is not the policy of Carnival to penalize guests or customers for their employees mistakes. User's recommendation: Yes I will continue to recommend carnival however hencforward I will check my transactions.
