My last top load washer we had for over 15yrs, and for want of a $10 part had to scrap it. The transmission looked like the rear end of a car. Washed clothes like a beast, it was simple and well made . The one one i just purchased is the most poorly designed piece of junk. I can tell by the sound and way it operates that I'll be lucky to get 5yrs out of it. And the thing puts a little puddle of water in and then takes the clothes for a ride in circles. The agitator never circulates the clothes around vertically, so the ones on top barely get wet. I miss my old machine, this will be the last Maytag I buy. They use to be a quality machine but no more. User's recommendation: Stay away from this brand.
