Profiling in your stores
1
Hello, I have been contemplating sending this email because i felt like it might fall on deaf ears. My name is vanessa douglas I am a small buisness owner and a frontline healthcare worker from Kitchener Ont. On July 30th around 2pm I stopped in at the location river and ottawa at the stanly park mall to grab some chicken fingers for my son. I shop at this location weekly and monthly zehrs recieves about $500 from my household. I was in the self check out paying for my food when a female employee who i later found out is a supervisor approached me out of nowhere. She very rudly looked at my doller store bag and said " are you sure you have nothing else?" . I was in shock, not only did this women appear out of nowhere but she literally targetted me. All the other self checkouts were in use and not one other person was approached. I said "yes im sure" paid for my purchase and approached a younger employee, i asked her if the woman was a manager and was told she is a supervisor and my complaint would be brought up. I'm sure it wasn't as she prob forgot at the end of her shift. I am positive i was singled out and profiled by your employee because i have alot of tattoos, two different hair colors and was wearing my comfy clothes. I am sure if i were wearing my scrubs this would not have happened. I am very disappointed and will not be shopping at this location again and might just switch my shopping preferences all together. No obe regarless of how they look or their clothing should be talked to as if they are commiting a crime. I really hope this is addressed because if its happened to me think of how many customers haven't come forward. Regards Vanessa douglas User's recommendation: Stand up for yourself.
