Treated Poorly and Ripped Off

DISAPPOINTING and NEGATIVE experience. I was excited to find a local lamp repair shop that has been in business for many years. I dropped my table lamp off on a Sat, and had what I thought was a nice chat with the owner. He said he would call me on Tues with an explanation of the problem and options for resolution. He said most likely it was a socket replacement and would be no more than $30. 2 WEEKS went by without a phone call, or any communication. I finally called the shop, and was told by the clerk that she would have to speak to the owner. I was given no information in regards to my lamp. 2 more days went by, when I received a phone call stating that the lamp would be ready in a few more days, and it would be $55 for a simple socket replacement. When I arrived to pick up my lamp, I was told that they only accept cash and checks. I had never been told this beforehand, and had left work early in order to make it to the shop by closing. Once again no apologies were offered, even when the owner referred to my ticket which stated he would discuss any repairs over $30 to let me decide if I wanted to proceed. In addition, when he showed my my now repaired lamp, it no longer had a dimmer. The dimmer is one of the reasons I bought the lamp in the first place. Again, no apology and no explanation. When I said I was disappointed in regards to the lack of communication and missing dimmer, the owner went off on a complete tangent about how he makes no money doing lamp repairs, and I was his last customer. He literally went on for over 5 minutes complaining about customers while I stood there completely stunned. He then told me he would remove the new socket, and I could just take home my lamp with no repairs. I was absolutely speechless, and horrified by his lack of professionalism and rude demeanor. I cannot begin to express in words what an awful experience this was in every way.
