Warranty Redemption NOT GRANTED
1
I have a 5-year-old Genie 2024 with a broken motor assembly. Normally, they would cost $120 to replace. This was an easy diagnoses because of the available schematics that was up online for this model. Called up customer service to grant this warranty. I was told that in order to have my motor warranty redeemed, I must first contact a "Genie-certified" technician and then they will send in the replacement unit. This, folks, is an example of planned obsolescence. We are not able to fix our own units without being tossed around by dishonest technicians. This is an example of why fewer customers buy Genie products in the first place. And for you customers searching for a garage door opener, do not buy Genie, because of the sneaky terms in that warranty.
