Taking advantage by charging Consumers and hoping they will forget about the trial period

1

I agree with the losses consumer. I wanted to see if there were any benefits to this service that a consumer cannot obtain. For free on their own and there aren’t. All 3 credit repositories will give everyone a free credit report once a year along with a simple interface to dispute credit items on your report. I think the service takes advantage of consumers who aren’t aware of this and who are intimidated by technology. There is no need for this service. Equifax, TransUnion and Experian all offer the same service for free and to go further they’ll offer credit monitoring services for a cheaper price. The worst thing about this is the free trial period. They make it very difficult to cancel. They won’t let you cancel through your account online. They require you to spend time calling an 800 number and then you have to provide the same information more than once and then they want to know why you are Cancelling. All of these things can be done online through most companies. Making a consumer call in and wait for an agent then speak to an agent are ways of making it more complicated for the consumer. It also makes it more time consuming. I cancelled within my trial period. I always set a reminder on these trial periods. Companies like this assume people will forget to cancel and not notice the monthly fee coming out of their account.
