Streaming Incompetence

I have constant problems watching TV using my web browser. RCN's streaming service is badly designed and unmanaged, with virtually no technical support. It constantly stops working. I record a morning news show starting at 6am and start watching at 7am. Too often the stream stops working after 15-30 minutes. Once it fails, it does not recover until the show finishes recording at 9am. In the past three days, once it fails it never recovers. The customer services folks are VERY nice, but unequipped to address the issue. Further, they seem to all be hired from communities that do not have RCN; none of them use RCN at home, so they are clueless on their products. There is no opportunity to talk with technical support. According to customer service, they are uninterested in the issue. They cannot recreate problems internally, but they do not want to observe in my environment (i.e. outside of their internal network - a totally different environment). It appears they are highly reliant upon TIVO for their streaming tech. But the TIVO tech support will not touch RCN accounts, and they simply finger point at each other - the height of incompetence and disdain for customers. RCN pricing is OK, and their gig internet access is solid. But their streaming service is a disaster, and they don't care.

If you are actual Representative of Rcn you can contact the user using the comment form and help resolve the situation. The user can always mark his complaint as "resolved". Maintain your brand image, it is FREE.
