Sold fake unsafe dangerous batteries

1

I purchased 4x 12V 170AH "AGM Power" brand Sealed AGM batteries from "Power-Series" also going as "Power Up", and upon arrival, several things were odd from the start. 1) The batteries were delivered via Toll but with no dangerous goods stickers or documentation (I have contacted Toll to report this). 2) The batteries have no specifications on them 3) At 23KG they weigh far too little for the 170AH rating. 4) When moving them sloshing can be heard of the electrolyte, which is wrong for a "Sealed AGM" battery. 5) When inverted electrolyte leaks from them. I had the feeling I had been scammed but I proceeded to install and test the batteries anyway and confirmed that these batteries start to boil when charged above 13.4V (AGM cycle use charge voltage is 14.4-14.8V). When charged to 14.8V and then used capacity is at most a pitiful 40AH. The sloshing sound, combined with the boiling voltage, leaking electrolyte, and pitiful capacity indicate that this is really a cheap flooded cell battery in an AGM package. This is really dangerous as the intent for most sealed AGM installations is for 4x4 road usage where one of the main benefits is that they can be mounted with any orientation including upside down. Armed with this information it has become apparent that this company is really "Sirus Force Batteries" rebranded to avoid the bad press. What was originally being sold as "Maverick" batteries has now become "AGM Power". This was easily provable as when contacting the company they provided the following number and email addresses to contact on: (02) 8488 **** eoverstocked@***.com The owner of this company is "George Sekuloski", aka "Goe Sek" on PayPal. The NSW Government has issued a warning to not trade with Mr. Sekuloski here: https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/news-and-updates/updates/public-warnings I am now seeking a refund via PayPal directly instead of via eBay as PayPal has more power to recover your funds from dodgy sellers like this. Mr. Sekuloski immediately accepted a full refund on PayPal if I agreed to ship the products back, but after explaining to PayPal that they are hazardous to ship, PayPal has decided to *** the situation and make a determination (which I am yet to hear back on) on this. The return address provided was: unit 6 / 2 Eden Park Drive Macquarie Park NSW 2113 Australia User's recommendation: Get your money back via PayPal and lorge a NSW FairTrade complaint against George Sekuloski.
