Plover WI Store

2

To Whom it May Concern: I'm a regular in this store and I haven't been there since the end of August because of Covid. However, I needed live fish and you can't buy those online. I recently came in to the store in Plover, WI and was absolutely distraught at the conditions in the store. First, before you even walk in, there is a broken bike on it's side, chained to the bench or something. I noticed it there before and it's been there for AT LEAST two months. Walking up to the store, the first thing I said was "OH my gosh, that bike is still here?" The only thing missing from the bench are the smoking employees who are constantly out there. I know two of them are the managers of the store. When I go inside, I'm greeted by bare shelves and pallets upon pallets of unpacked product. I needed filters, rocks, tank heater and to replace some fish that died. The rocks were almost empty but I did find them on a pallet. I couldn't find an employee so I took what I needed from the pallet. The tank heater section was comletely blocked by a different pallet. Maybe it's because what was behind it was empty. Nothing other than two of the tank heaters that would fit for a large tank. And in order to get to the tank cleaning supplies, you get to walk in a small little path laid out by two pallets. Like a mini maze. I could stand back there and probably know one would know I was even there. I will say the aquatics guy was great. Knew his stuff and did the best he could with what he had to work with. He had glasses and curly hair. Didn't catch his name. But he had about 6 other people waiting around the area and no assistance from another employee. The only other staff I even saw in the store was the cashier. I overheard the aquatics guy say "she is either smoking or in the office." Since I also have cats, I went to the cat section and it's even worse. NO LITTER IN STOCK. Seriously. None. No buckets. No refill litter. Nothing. A whole wall of empty shelves. The cat toys were gone and the beds were too. Since I couldn't find anyone to help, I left with just my bag of rocks that I took from a pallet and the filter media I needed. This store used to be great. I've talked to the managers before and know the other women are gone and that the lady with the red hair and the guy with the ponytail are still there. The other two were at least nice. These two couldn't care less. The red haired lady is kinda mean and condescending. I've heard her talk to other customers which was enough to make me not want to talk to her. The ponytail guy only gives you the time of day if you have fish questions. And he always smells like cigarettes and looks like he's high. I know some other people who shop here and they've said the same thing. And they refuse to shop there anymore. That the last month or two, the store is a mess. The managers are rude, if you can find them, and it seems to be holding on by a thread for the few employees who seem like they even care. One of the people who I know has a friend who works there and says she hates her job and her boss. That her boss makes people cry and swears at or about people all the time. No wonder no one wants to stick around if that's true. I didn't even want to look at the hamsters (not that I could get to them around the people waiting for help and the random product in the way). I was worried I'd see malnourished animals. How could they take care of them if they can't even sweep the floor??? That lady that runs the store needs her boss to find out what the *** is going on there because it's a mess. Top to bottom. He or she needs to do a surprise visit or something to see what it's like. Or send in a secret shopper. I was in the store for 20 minutes and only saw people looking for help, empty shelves, an overworked aquatics guy and a cashier. WHO RUNS THIS PLACE???? I bet if Ron Couglin walked into that store, he'd make everyone leave out of embarassment and shut it down, fire the manager and haul in a makeover crew. Where'd the people who knew what they were doing go? The only reason this place can still be operating is because no where else in Plover/Point sells reptiles or fish.
