I have lived in the Brantwood neighborhood in Highland for 38 yrs. we have experienced 4 power outtages in the last 6 weeks. for 38 yrs when my block experienced an outtage 99% of the time we could look across the street to see our neighbors never lost power . It has taken 12-27 hours each time before power is restored. One NIPSCO repair man told us years ago we were on a Grid that needs to be up-dated. We just received a letter from NIPSCO stating the outtages are storm related but its no coincidence that each time in the past 6 weeks our neighbors across the street never lost power because they are on a different grid. They recently took 2 grids and combined into one. Now our Pump Station loses power. Recently the power surge damaged the transformer in the pump station putting our neighborhood at risk of flooding.There is $ in our rates to up-grade services. NIPSCO needs to spend some of that $ in my neighborhood. Waiting for the IURC to open so I can call them next. User's recommendation: complain to state elected officials and IURC.
