Money taken without authorization.

2

Once a month for three months, money was taken from my account through a recurring payment without my knowledge or approval. The first two payments were cancelled but the third was not and is how I learned of the transactions. I had not set up a recurring payment and had only used the system twice when a pop up informed me that the pop money program was unavailable due to a change in their system. That is when the problem began. Since I had no notification that money waa being taken from my account, I kept getting charged nsf and overdraft fees. I learned through the person who was set up to receive the money because he was getting both a check and pop money and one month he also received a check from the bank and was inquiring why was I sending double payments. The bank refuses any responsibility and insists that I must have set it up. An odd thing is the transactions were taking place during a time not associated with rent payments. I filed a fraudulent activity report which was denied because I couldn't prove that I didn't do it. The bank received a lot of money by all the charges I incurred due to this. I showed the banker that the information regarding pop money money payments was not what she was showing me on her computer. She had no explanation for that, nor could she explain how, after she set up the fraudulent activity investigation that another payment went out while no one could access the online banking system. I'm still waiting for the bank to return the money that was taken out. The person who received the money confirmed to the banker that at the time he received the texts advising him of the payment, he had already told me not to pay him using pop money because he wasn't sure how to accept it...I've offered to hire a lawyer and take a lie detector test but the bank refuses to be cooperative. The attitude is..too bad..so sad. I had to borrow money to put in the bank to cover bills since they've still not put the money back into my account. There is a 10 day period during which the person to receive the money can just not accept it, then it goes back to the bank and sender. It has been 14 days and still nothing and now the banker says it may take several days before it is returned. Why?...It was from the bank..do they not have the money? I checked online and there is nothing that says it may take several days..just that it us returned the day after the pick up time has expired. I am a disabled vet, living on disability. My husband passed away last year from cancer..so I have a very limited amount of income. I don't know what else to do.
