Ok, enough is enough! I WILL NOT and CANNOT sit idly by ANY longer and allow this company and this family to hurt anyone else. I thought I was the only one, but over the past few weeks, what I have been learning has made me completely sick to my stomach, so last week I decided that I had do SOMETHING! I have called the police and they told me there is nothing they can do because I dont have anything in writing referencing the money that is owed to me by Londonderry Piano AND the Duffy family. I cannot hire an attorney because I dont have money. I am barely surviving right now, like many of us, business has dried up since this virus has taken over, so I am counting EVERY penny. My name is Connor and I have been in the piano industry for over 30 years. I have worked as an independent contractor freelancer for Londonderry piano on and off for 5 years and for a few months down in Florida for Bayfront music all owned by the Duffy family (John and Anthony Duffy). When I first met John Duffy, I thought he was a standup guy. I always had my doubts about Anthony because of some personal things that I know about him and I have always looked at him differently. But this conversation is about business not someones personal preferences, so I will focus on that right now. As a contractor, from time to time Anthony or John would ask me if they could pay me a percentage of what they charged for their services, sometimes I was tuning pianos, sometimes giving lessons, helping with an installation and even helping with sales. When it came time to get paid, there was ALWAYS an excuse, about how they were struggling that month, or they have a family emergency or they dont have enough money to pay the full commission, always an EXCUSE! For example, about 3 years ago, they owed me what added up to be $5000, I got fed up with the excuses and had a huge argument with them. Only after I threatened legal action, they paid me the $5000 that was owed to me. In the past 2 years I have helped them mainly with sales and referrals, at this point now they owe me over $8300! Recently, I started hearing rumblings about other people in the same situation, about clients being sold pianos that were not repaired correctly or damaged in some way. Some of them SO BAD that they were falling apart from the inside out. Of course, I mentioned it to Anthony. He told me if I keep bringing up other clients concerns or if I keep talking as he put it, then Im not going to get paid my money. To this day I have NOT been paid the money that is OWED to me and this is simply because I have helped my clients try and SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS WITH THESE TWO COMPANIES THAT THE DUFFY FAMILY OWENS. Now John tells me to call Anthony and Anthony tells me to call John and they are just playing with me, taking advantage and testing my patience. They know that I am not in a good situation, I am a mild mannered person, I live in a small apartment, can barely pay my rent every month and they simply dont care! All the while, THEY are taking vacations down in Florida and living the highlife, while people like me and unsuspecting, trusting clients (that I HAVE referred to them) are owed money or have pianos that are falling apart (and by the way, some of them were even sold as new but were actually preowned and pretty badly damaged before). When I first started working with this company, it seemed they had a decent reputation even though I heard some rumors about how they conduct their business. From the outside looking in, they always seem to say the right thing and put on a facade, meanwhile they are taking advantage of good hardworking, honest people like myself. This is not like me, I dont like to speak bad about anyone, nor have I ever been one to hurt another especially their business or livelihood. BUT they have left me no choice. They wont pay me my money. They are now affecting MY LIFE! And they wont take care of the clients that I have referred to them that are having issues. I can NO LONGER stand by and allow more people to get hurt. I will be contacting all of the people that I have ever recommended to Londonderry piano and Bayfront music (which is now out of business). I will also be contacting ALL their existing clients. My goal is to get all of us together so we can put a lawsuit against this company and get some kind of justice, especially to protect those people out there that like me, who thought that Londonderry was a honest and standup company. The last year has put a heaven burden on my life both emotionally and financially, I lost my wife, my business and now these people have put me in a position where Im going to be forced to move and lose my home. I dont have any children, or immediate family and I have nowhere to go. These people keep ignoring me! I am an old man and Im tired, but all these other people that Im talking to now are telling me theyre horror stories and I feel it's my duty to fight and be strong for all of us. I will find the STRENGTH and I will NOT REST until all our stories are heard and we get our fair justice!
