incompetence and ineptitude

My car was taken in to Cencar due to power problems. They indicated that, after they had put the car through their diagnostic equipment, that it would not cost more than R8k to repair. the workshop manager indicated that I could consider myself fortunate that it was not the ECU (computer) that was faulty. the car has been with them for almost 6 weeks now and they have gone through a process of replacing parts trying to solve the problem. this included a 2 week stint with Peugeot Menlyn. They have now have sent me a quote for R24500 saying that, amongst other things, its the ECU that needs repairing at R15k ex Vat. Its a situation of, the ECU has been taken out and needs replacing, and if I dont accept the quote it will cost me R3500 anyway (this was never discussed before). I am irate and believe that due to all their ineptitude they probably blew the computer which is now for my account, not even to speak about the parts they replaced that might not needed replacing. I would like them to refund the overcharging and money spent unnecessarily, never mind the costs associated with rental of cars to get to work while they messed around with my car.
