Failure of computer

My unit is about 5 years old with little use. The company where we purchased it claims the computer part of the machine is fried. We originally paid about $5500 for the unit which should last more than 5 years? Tech is billing us $450.00 for the repair. I will contact the manufacture. User's recommendation: Keep looking.
