Early termination

1

After having him come give a quote (he brought his son along, cute right?) I fell for this family man that Could finish my basement in 3-4 weeks. After a late start and 4 months, our project sat at about 50% done. He took vacation several times, leaving out of town and not arranging things to be done while he was gone. At times our project would sit with no progress for two weeks. He continues to apologize for missing deadlines and a majority of his work days were short because he brought 1-2 of his kids with him to the job. He was terrible at communicating, and with tight deadlines would only let us know what time to expect him after we would text him...daily. He would waltz in as early as 10:30 am and sometimes as late as 3 pm to start his work day. Often times I would ask for updates on aspects of the project and he would blow me off and never answer me. By some miracle we had some other contractors in the house working on another project and because David had not shown up that day we had them come inspect his work. Tile that had been laid was unleveled and tiles even chipped. He had not waterproofed the shower before tiling and failed to move the drain to center it on the wall. The door frame to the utility room was too narrow, making it impossible for a new furnace to fit through the door if ever needed. Drywall in areas will need to be replaced and all door frames will need to be removed and redone. We decided to terminate our contract with David and left all of his tools on the front porch. The next day we got a text from the electrician who told ya David still owed him $2200 from the work he had done, so it seems we arent the only ones out of money. After cleaning up downstairs weve found property damage as well. *** in our fence where he often delivered his supplies into the backyard, a broken broom, and plaster material from the shower dumped into our window wells clumping our stone together like concrete. Im more than happy *** never step foot again in our house and if this review does anything I hope people wont get tricked into thinking this guy has any clue what hes doing. Save yourself time and money (and a lot of angry feelings) and hire someone else. User's recommendation: Do not hire. Terrible workmanship, terrible communication and deadlines that mean nothing.
