Do not trust Gabriela Cano Real Estate in Playa del Carmen she is a liar and rents unsafe houses. She rented a house in Real del Carmen, Playacar to a young couple with a baby. The house had black mould, a serious chronic respiratory disease. Most worryingly of all the gas tank on top of the house had not been serviced in 5 years and were leaking gas from 3 separate sections. The dryer which was located at the rear of the property had inadequate ventilation and was also leaking gas. Furthermore the boiler on the side of the house had two gas leaks. The tenants attempted to communicate with Gabriela Cano in order to expressed their concerns about the blatant safety hazards and health risks but Gabriela simply responded “I am not going to spend money to fix the gas facilities” and “if you don´t like it you can move out”. Gabriela Cano of Moskito Real Estate in Playa del Carmen was knowingly renting a property that was unsafe, and even though she was the administrator of the house was refusing to not only fix but also maintain the property. Instead Gabriela sent to members of a local maintenance crew who were not engineers nor certified to tamper with gas facilities to the property to Real del Carmen, Playacar to swap the gas line from the main tank to a portable gas bottle. Gabriela of Moskito Real Estate in Playa del Carmen then expressed that the boiler and gas facilities were in fact safe to use. That very same day and just a few hours after the fact, the tenant of the property attempted to activate the boiler, unbeknownst to the tenant the boiler had not been serviced and had two separate leaks which lead to the boiler exploding into the tenants face and 1st degree burns to the face, eyes, scalp, and arms, not to mention two days in hospital and $3000 in medical bills. To recap Gabriela Cano was contacted on numerous occasions about unsafe gas facilities at the house and she refused to address the danger, and she sent unqualified people to facilitate a task that should be carried out by professionals. It’s hard to believe that this level of blatant unprofessionalism and ignorance is acceptable by an employee of Moskito Real Estate.
