Deceptive In-Store Signs – Newburgh, NY
2
This location consistently falsely labels items for sale and leaves them that way even after it's brought to management's attention. While the Orange County Department of Consumer Affairs did get them to stop advertising oranges from other countries as "California Naval Oranges, they still sold sweet onions as "Vidalia" onions - a federal crime - for months until I removed the sign myself. Now they are selling "cheese product" as american cheese in their deli. Land-O-Lakes stopped making real american cheese some time ago (look it up) and each of the loaves of cheese have the factory label identifying it as a cheese product. The shelf signs indicate it is simply "american cheese." On a shopping trip two weeks ago I hit the trifecta - Shelves full of frozen rolls in the "bakery", an outdated roast in the meat department and the aforementioned fake vidalia onions. You can also forget about stopping into to pick something up to make something for dinner that night - their chicken and other meat products are actually put out frozen. When I shopped at Stop & Shop last week it was nice to see other places aren't stooping this low.
