Four and half years ago we purchased a Thermador counter top gas cook top and downdraft vent system. Three years later the downdraft fans remote blower failed. Upon further review it turned out to be the plastic squirrel cage that simply fell apart. I purchased a replacement motor assembly to the tune of $300 plus. It worked well for about 6 months and once again failed for the same reason. I contacted Bosch/Thermador customer service on numerous occasions asking for resolution, received at least 5 emails stating no replacement part is available. Therefore, have been without a downdraft fan for the last 6 plus months with no one in customer support contacting me with even a hint of resolution. Very poorly managed customer support organization. User's recommendation: Think long and hard before buying their downdraft fan system because when it breaks, and it will, it’ll be crickets!
