Wrong information on my credit report

Dear sir or madame, i had an American express card years ago that i closed with a balance of zero. I recently received a credit report that shows i owe American Express $115....i called your 800 number and they verified that i do not owe anything ....bit trying to get that removed from my credit report is proving to be close to impossible. Please help Joseph Lee
