Why does it take so long??

Update by user Aug 09, 2018 Update> Hubby got the discount. He has decided to stay with the car until it is completed, or insist upon a loaner if they cannot do the repair in a timely manner in the future. I am still not satisfied with them, and will never do business with them again. Original review posted by user Jul 09, 2018 My husband has a 2009 Subaru Tribeca that he bought from his employer, as a Certified Pre-Owned. It was his 3rd Subaru. The car has served us very well, but has not been without its issues. My complaint is NOT about Subaru, but against the dealer above named, and their service department. This is not my first time around the block with these guys. My son bought a Chevvy HHR Certified Pre-Owned from them, and he beat it into the ground. In my son's case, we had issues getting them to do a warranty repair right the first time. The power windows kept breaking. One simple fuse. Yet, it would call for you to leave the car for DAYS...It wasn't until I contacted GM that the repairs were finally done right. Hubby has been there 3 times for repairs this year thus far, and he can't escape from that place without at least a 3-day stay. Today is the last straw. I am having surgery this Thursday, and I need my car. This morning, hubby's car did not start. We had to have AAA tow it. I just shook my head, and handed over my keys. I knew it would be at least a week. The car was there from early this morning. I got a call after 2 from Chris at the dealership. He glibly told me that to fix the fuel pump would be $1500, plus tax. It would be until Friday, he explained, because "Subaru does not keep these parts in stock". Why not? People still drive these cars, and haven't they ever heard of OVERNIGHT SHIPPING?? Well, I was told, this is the way it is. After I blasted the guy for the dealership's lackadasical business practices, Chris offered me $100 off, and no more. My point is this-- there is no excuse, in this day and age, that anyone who has a relationship with a dealer should have to wait almost a week for a repair that is non-collision related. A dealer should have a reliable parts source on call, and should offer a loaner to anyone who must wait for parts longer than one day. This should be an RK practice, as it seems that they can't even rotate tires and change oil unless you leave the car all day. My advice- line up a few reliable repair facilities, and insist on same day service if possible (or next-day, if a part must be ordered). If the dealer screws you over, just switch to someone else. Hold your ground. If you are in my neighborhood, don't leave your car at RK; say you will wait for it (if you have the option). I'll never use them at all, ever again.
