Several months ago I purchased the Prayer Cross from prayercross.com for my wife. I didn't want it shipped to my house in order to surprise her so I submitted my son's name and address (with his permission) along with my credit card number. This is the first and only time I used this tactic. Recently while perusing my credit card statements I found a deduction of $14.95 to UMG Buyers Edge. I have never purchased anything from them and immediately called to inquire. The customer service clerk was reluctant to provide any information stating that she had only the last four digits from my credit card and would need the entire number to provide further information. Yeah, Right! I told her that they obviously had my number; otherwise a deduction could not have been made and pressed her for all of the information on the "account". She gave the information that turned out to be my son's name and address and my credit card number. While I was sparring with the clerk my wife called my son on her phone and found that he had not contacted UMG nor ever purchased anything from them. Is it possible that the good folks at prayercross.com are in the habit of selling their customer information? Check your banking statements regularly and be careful of the purchases you make online.
