Thanks to the complete lack of service that my mother-in-law just encountered, CheckSmart Findlay just earned their first review. A couple weeks ago, my mother-in-law whom recently moved here from Texas needed to wire money from her bank to a Findlay western union location, as no branch of her bank was close by. The transfer was a large amount, so she was understandably bombarded with 20 minutes worth of questions, however, she successfully received the money from CheckSmart as requested. Yesterday she visited CheckSmart again to complete a 2nd and the final wire transfer that she would need. However, they had not yet received their needed delivery of cash to oblige, and they told her to return tomorrow (today). As instructed, she returned today to complete the wire transfer. Only this time, she was told that they would not provide her with her money that she had transferred there, saying verbatim, "She is not a money-maker customer for them and therefore they cannot release her funds to her." So there ya have it folks, CheckSmart has identified themselves as a predatory service, who finds her the money they would profit from her wire transfer fees to be too insignificant to do business with her. Apparently if you have your finances in order and simply wish to use one of their basic services such as a wire transfer, they won't necessarily perform the service that their front door advertises that they offer. They will, however, happily take a large portion of your paycheck if you are rather someone in a desperate situation or as they call you "A money maker." I didn't catch the name of the individual who treated her this way, but I can say that it happened at approximately 2:45pm EST on April 20, 2018. I will continue making my rounds on rating sites to advertise and express how unimpressed I am with CheckSmart and the inconsistent, predatory business model that they adhere to. Like many people these days, I ALWAYS check ratings of businesses before I visit them for the first time. I would have given a 0 star rating if I could, they literally didn't do the job that they advertised, at all.
