The shoes size is weird and I need to pay for shipping because I will return the product

I bought a pair of hiking shoes and even if I bought the size 5.5 instead 5 they are still SUPER TIGHT. When I place the order I paid for shipping. It's not my fault that the size is NOT the real one and now because I need not because I want - I NEED to return them I have to pay for shipping AGAIN. How is that fair Columbia Sportwear? I've send an email asking if I can return them in person - no answer...why? The customer service I've talk to doesn't care if I will complain or not about the fact the customer has to pay TWICE for shipping....WHY??? My order # is 120****. Such a bad attitude...
