The Gremlin has Returned
2
After two trips to Coburg, OR, to have repairs made in the hopes of fixing the problem, the electrical issue once again reared it’s ugly head while on a long weekend trip. As you can imagine, being completely frustrated after the time and money spent traveling, my husband did some research into the idiosyncrasies associated with GFCI circuits that host too many plugs; we even went so far as to consult an electrician. We came up with a solution for The Rev Group: instead of grouping seven plugs to one GFCI circuit, could each plug have its own, or be grouped, say two or three plus on a GFCI? While the tech at Rev agreed that this was a viable solution that could, ultimately, solve the problem, he told us point blank that The Rev Group would never sign off on such a repair and we should take it up with the corporate types in Decatur. So, that being the case, I asked him what the technician would do when we brought the coach to them (a 10-hour trip from here at a cost of $500. for gas). He said that the technician likely would attempt to replicate the issue (which has no consistent precipitous conditions, which no one seems to understand!) and, if he could not get the GFCI plug to misbehave, then he would do nothing, and send us back home (with our gremlin). So, my handy and talented husband is going to enlist the help of savvy tech people know and do the modifications to the plugs that The Rev Group will NOT DO for us, even though the service advisor acknowledged that it was a good idea. I plan to contact corporate folks in Decatur and express my displeasure in the way they’ve “helped” us solve this problem as well as make it clear that any upgrade we make in terms of another new coach WILL NOT involve any product made by Monaco.
