I was at my limited of money to borrow. So, I couldn't finish. Now after all these years I got a letter from the IRS telling me that the loan from Citibank for Kaplan charges of $28, 748.00 is being counted as income and I owe taxes on it which is almost $700.00 and I am being penalized 20% for everyday of being late. Citibank wrote this off. Income, this was for my books I didn't get a penny of this money. I am on disability. I barely get that a month to live on. They gave me 30 days to pay and I don't know what to do. they said they need documentation of where this money went to. I can't afford attorney, what do I do? I am so upset I don't know what to do or who to turn to. the IRS makes look like I am a criminal. Can anyone help me?
