Stranded during Wisconsin winter by multiple faulty alternators

1

My truck needed a new alternator and the brand my mechanic installed was Remy. The day I picked up my truck from the mechanic after he installed the new Remy alternator my truck suddenly died (with the same exact issues as before the Remy alternator was installed) while I was on a seldom traveled County Hwy as I live in rural Wisconsin. The temperature outside was well below freezing, and I was lucky that a passing motorist stopped and picked me up, but only after I sat in my truck for almost an hour. I had to pay for my truck to be towed back to my mechanics shop. Again, the problem was the alternator. Thinking it was just a fluke, my mechanic returned the faulty alternator to Remy and received another. Three days later I was left stranded AGAIN, same issue, same below freezing temperatures, same towing bill, and AGAIN, the problem was a faulty Remy alternator. My mechanic again returned the alternator to Remy, purchase another brand alternator with the refund Remy issued and my truck has been working perfectly for over a month now. I will now require that any automotive products from Remy will never be used on ANY future work to any vehicle I own or my family owns. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. There won't be a third time! This could have had a very tragic ending. User's recommendation: Do not use Remy Automotive parts in your vehicles!
