Apparently government legislation now allows any energy company to just take an account from another company. They no longer need the customer's consent. My energy account was "lifted" from EDF by EON. It has taken five months and I still have not got it back. I had no complaints and certainly did not want to change companies. The worst of it all is that even when I get it back, the same thing can happen again the following week! I am beyond angry. User's recommendation: We need to start lobbying this insane law and stand up for ourselves.
