reimbursement for cancer treatment out-of-pocket expenses

1

In January or February of 2019 my wife was referred to them by the American Cancer Society for help with expenses for cancer treatment not covered by her insurance. This created false hope. Many requested records of what was billed for what medical treatment and what was paid by my wife were submitted to them over a period of weeks, but not one penny of reimbursement was offered. It was like they publicly offered help but did not really want to share what they had collected in donations. I don't have any idea why they have a good rating on Charity Navigator. They seem slow and disorganized, and unlikely to provide personalized help for applicants having any difficulty assembling records they need. Like they are too busy? Maybe they could add staff to process cases? My hope is that there are other organizations better than this one trying to help cancer patients with thousands in expenses.
