Refund of $138
1
Deceptive business practices! 1/11/2016 we received a promotional voucher for travel worth $1, 000 that would be activated after we attended a travel seminar in Monterey, CA. 1/16/16 we attended this seminar and were given a pamphlet with different travel options we could now activate officially. To "secure" our vacation, each traveler had to pay a REFUNDABLE $69 vacation deposit and fill in our requested travel info. 3/28/16 I submitted payment of $138 and our travel request which was the cheapest option available. 4/5/16 I received an email from Avolon indicating that I had to complete a Pre Booking form and sign stating that it is correct. In return, I would receive an email in 5-10 days to "finalize the booking promotion". 5/24/16 I received another email from Avolon now indicating that I had to pay an additional $25 fee per person now to Fun Time Vacations in Maryland and fill out yet ANOTHER travel request from them. Recognizing this process is really getting convoluted and not what I had expected financially, I wanted to invoke my right to my refund and forget about using any travel vouchers with or through Avolon. I promptly called Avolon to obtain a refund of my $138 deposit and I was told to send an email with my refund request. I then did that. 6/7/16 I received an email from Avolon stating that my request had been denied because I signed the Avolon Pre Booking form stating that I agreed to no refund. That is incorrect. The form I signed says "the signature below confirms that the information provided is correct.". Meaning that the travel information I am requesting is correct. NOT my right to a refund! 6/7/16 I called Avolon customer service and I was told something else entirely in that the refund is only available between the time I sent in the $138 and the time I submit the Avolon Pre Booking Form. RIDICULOUS! NOWHERE does it state this information. Now at this time, I began to sense I was being scammed so I looked into both Avolon and Fun Time Vacations. Both businesses operate with less than ethical practices and it appears others are also reporting like experiences. Below is a report on Fun Time and the BBB is already aware of other Avolon complaints for awareness. /link removed/
