Poor to go containers+poor listening=poor customer svc

3

My review is based on the only two times I have attempted to get my food to go. I want to start off saying this was MY FAVORITE place to go to, when i have company, esp ppl from oot that has never tried it here, I always turn ppl onto this place. With that being said, let me tell u how this place went from five star to one star... A few mths ago i got a job around the corner from cbi. I treat myself to a lunch while at work once a week....I was excited to be around corner so I can start coming here for my lunch at those times. My usual order was always dine in, dinner, I always ate one of three pastas, so doing my lunch here opens up a new kind of menu for me to try...lunch! On my lunch I have thirty minutes to walk here, get my food, walk back to work and eat til its over. No time for issues.... The first time I attempted to eat on my lunch here I ordered a meal that was heavy on a wine gravy, but lots of places have saucy and gravy foods that you get to go (Chinese, Arbys, etc) never an issue so long as they wrap everything correctly and have proper containers for that item. I opened my bag and saw they had put it in one of those cheap carton flip tops that u would use for burger and fries, NOT a sandwich covered in hot cheese and gravy. The gravy and cheese was all in bottom of bag, the ONLY thing left in the carton was chicken and soggy bread. My lunch was ruined, i was so upset and disappointed, I didn't even complain to them, regretfully. (no one warned me either about it being full of liquid and to be careful not to tip) I waited couple weeks, to calm down and decided to give them a second chance for my lunch because, again, I LOVE this place, I don't want to be upset w/ them. I ordered roast beef sandwich and au jus....that way the au jus would surely be contained, right? while placing my order I explained to waitress that i needed the au jus in container w/ a lid. . She assured me they would, and they did. However the did NOT make sure the lid was pushed down all the way so even though I was careful not to tip when i walked back to work, when i lifted bag up to set it on table it barely tipped over and lid wasn't sealed all the way around so it all leaked out ...all over the bag and my food and on me...and Im at work, so i have to go all day like this. Visibly upset I walked back w/ my au jus filled bag, put it on the bar, spoke to first person I saw....idk if he was manager, bartender....he was a very tall large build guy....My review isn't necessarily based on my food being screwed up two times in a row, nor is it solely based on the improper to go containers, mostly its based on how I was treated and felt when i came back to get more au jus for my lunch. He kept interrupting me, ask a question then interrupt me again when i was answering; placed blame on me, he insinuated its the way I carry the bag, he would not listen or worse did not HEAR me, he did NOT apologize, he took zero blame or responsibility for it and in the end he threw his hands up and stated "i guess ill make you another one", as if I was trying to get something for free. I told him No. all i want is au jus to eat w/ this sandwich. He came back w/ it done the CORRECT WAY but after I got back to work, i saw he didn't put in my plastic-ware so i can eat it...but i don't need it because i STILL haven't ate, because this mess took my entire lunch time. Ill have to eat it cold at eleven pm tonight....and im STARVING. I work customer care for a living, I know how difficult it is, it is why i didn't complain the FIRST time this happened. I felt humiliated and very frustrated while standing there attempting to talk to this man. I felt insulted that his natural reaction was to blame me, he also assured me how they always make sure the lid is on well and then a couple sentences later stated "i don't know. i didn't put the lid on". All i wanted out of this was an apology and my au jus with minor hassle so i can hurry get back and eat. He even insinuated my first item comes covered in gravy so what do I expect getting it to go...but LOTS of restaurants have gravy-like foods and they can do carry out fine....I should be able to order those item to go, so long as restaurant properly wraps it and uses correct containers. If you are debating on eating here, do NOT get it to go, unless its Pizza. If there is an issue, do NOT expect them to take responsibility or apologize to even LISTEN. You will unfortunately not see me there any more, which saddens me, however there are plenty of other restaurants all over the same street, i have never tried because I was all about CBI. Maybe this incident will open a doorway for me to find a better favorite place..one that cares about me as a customer, appreciates my money and still has awesome food. I had to work over an hour at my job for one of these meals that was ruined.Crap happens its how you clean up the crap, that makes the difference in great and terrible customer service.
