Paid for installation that has not occurred
1
On August 3, 2021, I purchased a garage door opener [GDO] from Lowe's in South Lakeland, FL. I also paid for installation of same. Was told I would be contacted in 24-48 hours to schedule install. Days later, no contact. Called Lowe's Installation phone number. Was told they don't handle that [?] but she could see the install was set for 8/11/21. When I told her that date would not work, she gave me the number of the third party vendor - "Handy." Wrong name for that outfit. Called & spoke with an obvious call center CSR. He hastily changed apptmt. to 8/9/21 - great - 2 days sooner - great! Yeah, not so great. Sunday night, 8/8/21, receive text & email - apptmt cx'd & rescheduled for 8/13/21. Thursday night 8/12/21, receive text & email - apptmt cx'd & rescheduled for 8/19/21. Wednesday night 8/18/21, receive text & email - apptmt cx'd & rescheduled for 8/23/21. I asked about just cancelling install order & full refund. Was told I could cancel apptmt with Handy, but would have to contact Lowe's about refund. Lowe's refuses to refund because I haven't given the third party installation vendor 30 days to remedy situation. So for a month, I, as a senior citizen, am expected to manually close a heavy garage door, or just stay trapped in my house since the garage door won't close due to needing the GDO replaced. What a total rip-off and absolute nightmare. I will NEVER purchase anything else requiring installation through Lowe's. I am not only struggling with a broken GDO, but will most likely now also have to pay more money to have someone else do the installation.
