Need full refund for a trip

We arrived to our destination , had 2 rms reserved and pd for and they said the did not have my parents (80 yrs old) room and refused us because I had a service animal. So there we were with no where to say and the kept our money. Would not give us a refund. Why did the charge us if they didn't have a reservation User's recommendation: Never pay for reservation ahead of time.
